Beer Reaver looking smooth on the Speaker at Sips in Salisbury

A last minute impromptu trip to Stonehenge landed us on a train ride from London’s Waterloo Station to Salisbury. After a quick visit to Stonehenge, we had an entire, unplanned day to spend however we wanted before returning to London. We decided to explore Salisbury, a small, intimate town with so much character.

The weather was great; fresh, cool, cloudy with a slight chance of drizzle. We were building up an appetite so without question we knew exactly what to do first. A drink! Luckily enough, we found this place called Sips on the map. Located right over River Avon on Bridge Street.

This place was awesome, a bit hidden, cozy and most importantly, offered variety. The place was empty when we walked in, which was perfect. It allowed the beer tender to give us his full attention. Super friendly guy with total knowledge of what he had in store. We made some bottle selections, took a seat and had probably one of the best hangouts of the whole trip. Couldn’t get better than this; a cool spot, great company, tasty beer, oh and did I mention it began pouring rain outside?! Feeling good, we decided to stick around longer and do this review! If you ever find yourself in Salisbury, a stop into Sips is a must and while in there, look around, you might just find a mark we left behind! Smooth, I mean, how else were we supposed to show that #BeerReaverWasHere !!? Cheers my friend!

Just add a dash of Basil

M: I will first admit that I’m going into this already a little tipsy, however my tastebuds are ready and prepared. This pour is pure darkness and beautiful, rich looking that leaves a caramel color coating. Omnipollo is brilliant having concocted this Noa Pecan Mudcake. Curating an imperial stout that was aged in a Basil Hayden barrel. At 14%, this piece of heaven is smooth and sweet and unregrettable. No bitterness, just a longing for a dessert to pair with it.

Sips has some smooth sips

J: This beer is amazing, I know i say that A lot but this one is exceptionally amazing. We’re at this spot called Sips in Salisbury UK that we came across accidentally but such a pleasant accident. I was looking for a barrel aged stout (after A week worth of IPAs and Pale ales, and the occasional Jameson) I asked the beerkeep he suggested Omnipollo – arguably The best brewery in the world, as I’m told and I, In all honesty I don’t have a single argument to the contrary. This beer is Rich, smooth and completely opaque and its right up my alley, it has a nice pecan finish thats sweet but subtle and a lightness to it that makes you thin its anything but 14%. Did I mention how sweet the bottle are is, so much fun! Cheers reavers.
